My wife and I have just completed our first business book together.
The Commonsense Virtual Assistant—Becoming an Entrepreneur, Not an Employee, is designed to help the growing number of virtual assistants analyze their business skills, and find and fill any gaps.
It's also a resource if you're looking for a VA. The book outlines what you should expect from a professional virtual assistant.
You can pre-order an autographed copy for $19.95. The book will ship in May.
What Folks Are Already Saying About the Book
"Your book will be a great asset to many new VAs." Jan, Your Virtual Wizard
"Good luck with your book. I hope it will emphasize the importance of self-worth and encourage future VAs to value their skills, to always continue their education, and to be responsible and conscientious business owners." Jennifer, www.ccvirtually.com
"Can't wait to buy your book!" Rosalind Harris CPS, www.instantassistant.net
"Sue and Joel, I really appreciate your efforts in putting this information together and look forward to the final product." Â Margie Gibson, MG Virtual Office Solutions

I'm helping a young student edit her novel. She recently finished writing a romantic comedy and wants to get it published. Since English is not her first language, there are quite a few spelling and grammar corrections that need to be done. Since this young woman would like to write for a living, we agreed that I would point out to her the types of things she needs to correct and that she would go through the novel to make the corrections. Then when she writes her next book she'll have a much better idea of the things to avoid. It's been very enjoyable helping a young person who is passionate about what they do.

Are you an author who wants to write for a living? Then you need to be a business person too. That can be a little challenging. There are many aspects to consider such as expenses and marketing. Where can you find resources to help you with the business side of being an author?
There are good books you can read about building your business as an author. One is Stephanie Chandler's book, The Author's Guide to Building an Online Platform. Another useful resource is the networking site for authors, BookMarketing Network. There are also workshops and seminars. Check out Indie Seminars where Stephanie Chandler will be speaking on the topic, Build an Online Platform for Authors: Get Published and Sell More Books.
Many authors today utilize the services of a virtual assistant to help market their book. A virtual assistant can help with online promotion, creating press releases, contacting media, coordinating a virtual book tour and more.
If you are an author, what help do you need with your business?
